Agent Camp 2026
Global AI Mbarara Session 2 kicked off with a deep dive into AI Workflows, Agents, and their practical applications. Spearheaded by lead organiser Joronimo Amanya, the session brought together AI enthusiasts from across Mbarara for an afternoon of learning, live demos, and hands-on coding.
Global AI Mbarara
A local chapter of the Global AI Community, organising meetups, workshops, and hands-on sessions to connect AI practitioners across Mbarara and beyond.
The Speakers
Muhwezi Amon
Broke down the core concepts: Large Language Models, Workflows, and AI Agents, explaining the differences between the three. Shared a live repo that the audience cloned, installed dependencies on, and ran together to see results in real time.
Adam Katongole
Demonstrated how knowledge of workflows was integrated into Virtura, his latest innovation. Showed a production-grade example of AI workflows solving real problems.
Hands-On
The audience followed along with Amon's repo, installing dependencies and running the code during the session. The repo is available at: lnkd.in/de8sjXmD
What We Covered
The session started with foundational theory: what makes a Large Language Model different from a traditional ML model, how Workflows chain multiple AI steps together, and where AI Agents fit as autonomous decision-makers in those workflows. From there, both speakers showed how these concepts move from whiteboard to production.
Adam's Virtura demo was a highlight -- seeing a complete workflow-driven product built on the very principles being taught made the theory click for everyone in the room. The audience asked sharp questions about orchestration, error handling, and when to choose an agent over a fixed workflow.
The Team Behind It
A big thank you to the whole team that made this session possible:

Looking Ahead
Sessions like these are why the Mbarara AI community keeps growing. The energy, the questions, the willingness to clone a repo mid-session and see if it works -- that is what hands-on learning looks like. Looking forward to the next Global AI Mbarara session.
